I do not like cleaning!

With a house full of boys, though, it seems like much of my time is spent doing just that.

Since I’d rather spend time hanging out with the boys instead of cleaning, I began researching ways to make cleaning the home more manageable.

After learning an incredible amount about organizing and cleaning the home, I began sharing them on iDreamofClean.net so I could pass along all the incredible information I was learning while also keeping myself accountable.

Once I began to implement the cleaning tips I picked up over the years, I determined that a clean and organized home seems to lead to a more productive life.  Fewer balls are dropped. There’s more playtime. The home just functions better overall. Plus, as someone who is right brained by nature, I found that creativity can actually flourish when the home is well managed and orderly!

Incorporating a schedule for your cleaning regimen increases productivity in several ways:

Routine tasks become habit.

Let’s say you have 3 cleaning chores that you do daily. You start a load of laundry every morning when you wake up, clear the bathroom counters while you brush your teeth, and clean the kitchen every night before bed. Although you may not enjoy those three things, when you complete them daily, it becomes a habit and you eventually complete the tasks on autopilot.

Your mind is less cluttered.

When you have to continually think about irregular maintenance items, it takes up valuable space in your mind. When it’s written down and put on a schedule, you spend less energy thinking about what you need to do and/or forgot to do. You can quit asking yourself when was the last time you flipped your mattress, changed your home air filter, or had your vehicle tires rotated and balanced.  Implementing a cleaning schedule will ensure that you do all of those irregular maintenance items on time.

You know who is responsible.

No one said you are the one who has to maintain the entire home. If others live in your home, a cleaning schedule will map out exactly who should do what task and when it should be completed.
